Music Ministries

Here at St. Christopher we pride ourselves on having a growing and diverse music program with many different opportunities for people to be involved in any Mass. If you are interested in participating please contact the Parish Music Director, Sean Polen, at 692-2660 ext. 331, 525-5293 (cell), or email: spolen@saintchris.org.

Cantors - Every Mass at St. Christopher is led by a Cantor who invites and encourages the congregation to participate in the musical aspect of the Mass. We have a very talented group and those who are interested in joining are asked to attend a Cantor training which is held occasionally throughout the year. You should be comfortable speaking and singing in front of a large group of people before you consider joining.

Choirs:

Voice of Faith is a traditional choir which leads the congregation in song at the 11:00 am Sunday Mass from September through June. The choir has rehearsals on Thursdays at 7:00 pm in the church and on Sunday at 9:30 am in the school's music room before Mass. You are not required to go to both rehearsals; feel free to choose whichever rehearsal is convenient to your schedule. Voice of Faith sings traditional hymns as well as contemporary pieces. They also present choir anthems during Mass as an offering of their talents to enhance worship.

Acclamation is a contemporary music group of vocalists and instrumentalists who lead the worshipping community in song at the 9:00 am Sunday Mass from September through June. They hold their rehearsals at 6:30 pm on every Wednesday. They play music found in the Spirit and Song hymnal and from popular Christian bands.

Our 4:30 music ministry is our newest. It is a group of singers led by a pianist and a guitarist and it is beginning to take shape. Currently they rehearse at 3:30 pm on Saturday before the Mass. If you are an instrumentalist or a vocalist that would like to participate, please contact Sean Polen for details.

Celebration Bells is a traditional English bell choir that performs the first Sunday of every month as well as special occasions throughout the year at the 11:00 am Mass. The rehearsals are held on Monday at 7:30 pm. The music played ranges from ancient chant tunes to contemporary hymn arrangements of classic favorites.

Solace Choir is the parish choir for Funerals and Bereavement Masses. As many of the funerals take place during the work week, availability is an important part of the ministry. Willing parishioners are asked to contact Sean Polen.
