St. Christopher Parish began in May 1928 as a Mission of St. John de La Salle Parish in Niagara Falls. During the first year, Masses were held in a tent while the church – designed for 182 people – was built.
St. Christopher Parish, located at the border of Tonawanda & Amherst, New York is a vibrant, active parish considered "home" by approximately 4,000 families living in Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, Amherst, and various other towns of the Buffalo-Niagara region. Our parish is proud of its diversity and welcomes persons of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Whether you are looking for a home parish, or just a place for week-end worship, we welcome you!
The parishioners and staff of St. Christopher value the importance of active participation in ministry, and have thus developed the Commitment to Parish Life program. This program encourages parishioners to pledge their time, talent and treasure insofar as they are able. As a result, our parish offers over 100 various ministries/activities from the more common Lector and Eucharistic ministers, Music ministries, Scripture sharing groups, Religious Education Catechists, Outreach and Boy and Girl Scout groups, to the less common Mission (travel) ministry, charitable giving, Bereavement Support Groups, Care for Creation, rosary makers, and "Yarn" ministry (whereby parishioners crochet or knit baby blankets for single mothers and lap robes for nursing home residents). We offer something for everyone, so that parishioners of all ages and abilities can find the activity that best suits their time and talent.
If you are new to St. Christopher's, we look forward to having you join us in worship or as a parishioner.
