Bereavement Committee

Members of the Bereavement Committee offer support to families that have suffered the loss of a loved one. Their activities range from planning funeral liturgies, cooking and serving funeral brunches and prayer services at wakes to smaller gestures of compassion. Members of the committee stay in contact with the family during and after the funeral to offer friendship and help. This ministry includes:

  •    Walking with Grief - A monthly speaker and support group
  •    Tender Hearts - New support group for children and adolescents
  •    Men's Support Group
  •    Annual Candlelight Children's Memorial Service
  •    All Souls Mass of Remembrance (November 2)

Mission Nicaragua

Mission Nicaragua is a parish-based effort to send groups of St. Christopher parishioners to Nicaragua to work, pray, and live alongside the people, creating bonds of friendship, allowing them to share their culture and faith with us.

Two groups of travelers have already returned from Nicaragua(January 2011 and January 2012) and a small group of the original travelers are returning to continue an eyeglass project which was begun with the help of the Lions Clubs of this area.

This mission work continues year-round as the parish becomes involved in various projects to assist the needy of Nicaragua. Click here for more detailed information on Mission Nicaragua.

Parish Outreach Parishioners staff a food and clothing pantry that assists the needy within our community and various charities, groups and individuals from the inner city of Buffalo. Outreach efforts are also extended to our sister parish in Nicaragua.Major events include holiday food collections, Christmas gifts for those served, Easter baskets and hygiene bundles for Nicaragua.

St. Christopher Visitors Individuals minister to our ill and homebound parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, rehab, Hospice or their own homes. These ministers bring Holy Communion to the sick or simply visit if that is what is desired and appropriate.

St. Vincent de Paul The St. Vincent de Paul Society exists to bring charity to life by compassionately serving the most basic needs of the forgotten, the suffering, the deprived, and those in crisis in a manner consistent with their dignity and self respect.  This spiritual society is not a parish organization but collaborates with Parish Outreach since they share a common mission.
